The Up2 is the new “middle child” of the Jawbone family, designed to be the middle product offering between the entry-level Up Move and the more advanced Up3. The Up2 comes with the usual set of features – activity tracking, sleep tracking, a waterproof band, and smart alarms. The Up2 uses a similar display to older Jawbone trackers – with three icons to show current status, as opposed to a numbers-based display.
The companion app, Up, is Jawbone’s strongest point. The smart coaching included with the Up app is very advanced; not only can you set your own goals, the app will adapt to your recent trends and give customized advice. If you prefer something more on the simple side, you can set goals and use the many built-in social networking features to further yourself. Up’s food tracking is very advanced compared to the competition – the app offers numerous ways to track your calorie intake.

The Up app’s food tracking feature goes above and beyond. Aside from having the standard food database, Up can use your smartphone’s camera to scan barcodes; not only that, it can also use pictures of full meals to track foods. Now you have a great reason to take pictures of your food!
What we wish it had
A better clasp. Initially, sliding the clasp to fit your wrist can be difficult, as the clamp sits on the wristband very tightly. The clasp has a tendency to come undone without much effort – even wearing a long-sleeve shirt can cause it to slide off the wrist. We wish it had a better way to hold the clasp in place – whether it be a lock or a magnet.
