Sharon: I use the Up2 by Jawbone. I bought it in November right before the holidays because it was on sale and I was going to give it as a gift to someone. Curiosity got the best of me and I ended up trying it out for myself. Let’s just say that friend never got that gift!
Wellocracy: Why did you start using a tracker? Do you have specific health/wellness goals?
Sharon: I started using a tracker because I wanted to monitor some aspects of my physical activity and sleep. My current goal is to walk briskly and continuously at least 1.5 miles a day.
Wellocracy: What did you learn about yourself by using a tracker?
Sharon: When I tracked my sleep, I found out I was waking up at least 3-4 times during the night. As a result, I made some adjustments, including drinking fewer liquids before bedtime. I’m now sleeping better and am less grumpy in the mornings. Yayyyyy!!!
Wellocracy: What do you like best about your tracker? What do you like least about it?
Sharon: I love that it tracks both physical activity AND sleep. I wear my tracker every day. It’s like having a best friend – we never argue or fight, and we are together all the time. The thing I dislike about my tracker is that I have to charge it more often than I’d like to.
Wellocracy: Do you share your data with family or friends?
Sharon: No, I haven’t shared my data…yet. However, I do use the community feature to see how I rank compared to other women my age who use the UP Jawbone activity tracker. I have to say, I give myself a pat on the back every time I see my rank!
Wellocracy: What advice would you give someone thinking about tracking or, do you have other thoughts you would like to share?
Sharon: Tracking has been an accountability partner for me. When looking for a tracker, be sure to base your search on the goals you are looking to achieve. There are so many trackers in the marketplace today. I am team UP Jawbone but you can be team Fitbit, team GARMIN or any tracker team that works for you.
